A happy new year (and some easy starters to 2014)…

A happy new year to all our followers. I hope you had a good break (despite the weather!).

I will start 2014′s blog-posts with a nice gentle opener, picking up on some of the media coverage that we received in December relating to key employee benefit issues, and indeed the feedback from one of the delegate surveys at our last major London event.

The first area we shall look at is Childcare Vouchers, and employer attitudes to this benefit since the proposed replacement offering of Tax Free Childcare was announced. Please see the attached link from Employee Benefits Magazine for more details:

https://www.employeebenefits.co.uk/benefits/childcare-and-carers/only-2-intend-to-scrap-childcare-vouchers/103820.article

This is strong evidence of a greater employer understanding of the issues which is rather promising, and probably reassuring to those parents who might otherwise lose our on this key element of Government support.

The other coverage relates to pensions and (of course) Auto-Enrolment. Pensions Age Magazine placed the following article:

https://www.pensionsage.com/pa/challenge-for-tpr-in-addressing-ae-non-compliance-from-SMEs-Jelf.php

Which is self-explanatory, but I hope highlights that I remain mightily concerned that many employers who are due to enrol this year remain unaware of the true depth of their compliance duties.

I expect to be posting again on both these topics in January, as we are awaiting further details from the DWP any time now.

As ever, I will keep you posted as things develop in 2014.

Best regards

Steve
