London Zoo Event: Booking now!

The Evolution of the Workplace…

Legislation is changing both the British workplace and the demographics of its workforce.

Issues as diverse as Flexible Working, Zero hours contracts, the abolition of the Default Retirement Age, employee engagement, shared parental leave, childcare costs, recent case law and (of course) the recent changes announced to pension savings will result in many employers reviewing and changing their establish procedures. But what should employers look for, and what steps have other organisations taken to meet these new requirements?

To help employers better understand this changing dynamic, Jelf Employee Benefits are staging a special, free* to attend, event. Our expert educators will be on hand to deliver their thoughts in their usual relaxed and informative fashion, and delegates will also be able to participate in the event (and gain an insight into the views of their peers) through our interactive voting system.

We also have a wonderful venue for our delegates to enjoy after the event. London Zoo is the world’s oldest scientific zoo and currently has more than 700 animal species on display. Delegates will be provided with a free one-hour pass to the zoo when the event concludes. The zoo is accessible via all forms of public transport.

09:45 Welcome & Delegate Voting

09:55 Employee Benefits: “The leopard that changed it’s spots”

Are employers keeping their benefits package aligned with new workforce legislation and employee attitudes? To help delegates understand the need for change, Steve will undertake a quick review of many key changes that will influence current and future workforce demographics. Topics covered will include a look at the impact of recently announced pension changes (and Auto Enrolment) , how the Health and Work Service may change the way absence is managed, and perceived, in the workplace, changes to state support for childcare costs, and the exemption on benefit provision following the abolition of the Default Retirement Age.

Speaker: Steve Herbert, Head of Benefits Strategy, Jelf Employee Benefits

10:30 Delegate Voting followed by short break

10:55 Managing Retirement: “Doing the right thing for both the employee and employer”

The abolition of the Default Retirement Age has left many organisations with only a minimal insight into the potential retirement timelines for many of their older employees, and this lack of certainty can have a negative impact on many business planning issues. This session will look at how the employer can provide practical assistance to help the employee make informed retirement decisions in a way that is a potential win-win for both parties.

Speaker: Tony Clack, Managing Director, LaterLife Learning

11:15 Delegate voting

11:25 Employment Law: “An infinite number of monkeys?”

Recent case law may well dictate the dynamics of both the contractual relationship and demographic of the workforce for many employers. In his usual relaxed, informative (and often humorous) style Tim will look at items as diverse as flexible working, zero hours contracts, the recent landmark case of Lock V British Gas, the abolition of the Default Retirement Age and other recent cases that have caught his eye. A regular and popular speaker at our events, this is a necessary session for all delegates.

Speaker: Tim Randles, Associate Director, Pennington Manches LLP

12:00 Delegate Voting

12:15 Feedback form prize draw (win one of two luxury hampers)

12:20 Seminar concludes/ Optional access to zoo
