Tax-breaks and healthcare: Your views

Those that attended our recent event at The National Army Museum will recall that one of my topics on the day was the Government’s response to the Sickness Absence Review.

The one big ‘unkown’ from the response remains around tax-reliefs. Will they be introduced for any (or all) health-related employee benefits, and if so, which ones?

This decision has been delayed until the 2013 budget (not so very far away now), so I was interested to hear the delegate views on this important topic. The findings from our survey on these points were issued last week, and we have received an encouraging amount of coverage, some of which can be viewed via the following links:

So it’s quite clear that rehabilitation services, whilst important, are the least relevant to employers seeking to control sickness absence. It’s to be hoped that these findings make there way into Government thinking, as it’s really important that the tax-relief is targeted at the benefits where it will do most good.

Will keep you posted.

Best regards

Steve
