EB Show: Jelf/ Admiral/ Scottish Widows presentation…

Following on from my earlier post, another session I sat in on yesterday featured Jelf’s own Alan Stevenson. The session was entitled:

“Helping employees love pensions, savings and employee benefits”

The session was a treble bill, including not only Alan, but also Richard Thorne of Admiral Group and Lynn Graves of Scottish Widows, and was focused on the success of a pension scheme re-launch at Admiral.

What this session did really drive home is that it is quite possible to reach, and engage, different demographics of employees by trying different approaches. It’s really encouraging to see new ideas being used well, and congratulation to all three parties in delivering this.

Another point of interest arose from Richard’s speech. Admiral have seen a notable link between employees who engage with workplace savings and staff retention. This is important, as it provides more evidence that a good pension (or benefits) package can really make a difference to recruitment and retention costs.

Finally, and not least, I feel we should take a moment to point out that the above approach was actually the recipient of a “highly commended” award at the recent Professional Pensions Awards. Evidence indeed that this is an approach worth considering by other employers.

Best regards

Steve
