Annual Health and Wellbeing Event: Full details and how to book

It’s time for our annual Health and Wellbeing event, and once more we aim to provide just the right balance between education and entertainment. This year’s theme is “Mind your business”, and yet again we will provide some of the very best speakers to help you do just that, as they guide you through important employment issues including:

  • Employment Law update, including a focus on health related legal issues
  • The future of UK Corporate Healthcare Policies, and what this means to employers
  • Updates on recent employment reviews, including employee Minimum Income Standards, Employee Engagement levels, The Sickness Absence Review & Well-being index

And we are also fortunate to have award winning comedian Paul Sinha to round off the agenda. Paul appears regularly on radio comedies as diverse as Fighting Talk, The Now Show, and The News Quiz, as well as a regular slot on ITV’s daily quiz show The Chase as a resident expert. He is also a fully qualified Doctor of Medicine, so is well placed to deliver a humorous look at the role that medicine and wellbeing play in all our lives.

Our superb venue for the event in London’s world renowned British Museum. Admired around the world for its unique collection of artefacts, delegates will have the chance to peruse the galleries and view items as varied as Egyptian Mummies, The Elgin Marbles, and The Rosetta Stone. Only a few minutes’ walk from tube and bus links this is a truly A-list venue for this event.

Full Agenda:

Registration, coffee and networking

Welcome

Employment Law: ‘Employment health questions: A lost treasure?’’

The Equality Act places what almost amounts to a ban on pre-employment health questions to candidates, yet many employers have yet to get to grips with this important legislation. In addition, employers are also faced with the dual challenges of managing sickness absence, and the management of disability in the workplace.

Tim will seek to outline how employers can comply with their legal and contractual obligations in the above areas. An informative and necessary session for delegates, delivered in his usual relaxed and humorous style.

Speaker: Tim Randles, Associate, Penningtons Solicitors LLP

Employee Benefits: ’A collection of oddities’

Recent years have seen a number of concepts consolidated into official reports. Some of the more interesting documents include the Joseph Rowntree Foundation report on Minimum Income Standards, Employee Engagement levels, Happiness Indexes, and The Sickness Absence Review.

Steve will seek to sift through the pages of these reports to isolate which items may have implications for UK employers, and indeed employee benefit provision.

Speaker: Steve Herbert, Head of Benefits Strategy, Jelf Employee Benefits

Break/ Refreshments/ Networking

Healthcare: ‘The best thing about the future is it comes one day at a time’

Julian will outline the likely causes and effects of the Office of Fair Trading and subsequent Competition Commission investigation into the commercial practices of consultants & private hospitals, and the steps that employers can put in place to maximise the value of their existing and future Corporate Healthcare planning

Julian is the outspoken CEO of WPA, and is sure to be both an interesting, challenging and engaging addition to the day’s agenda.

Speaker: Julian Stainton, Chief Executive, WPA
