“The employer’s Duty of Care”: Places now available…

Do you have employees based overseas? Are you aware of your legal and moral duties to those individuals, and do you have policies and procedures in place to best meet these responsibilities?

To help you answer and respond to the above questions, Jelf have established a panel of subject experts for this special event. The agenda includes a look at Law, Benefits, and Medical Risk. The full agenda is detailed later in this post.

Our venue for this event is the unique and historic Churchill War Rooms in Westminster. From this location Winston Churchill directed much of the allied war effort in the 1940’s. Delegates will have free access to both the War Rooms and the new Churchill Museum after the event.

We are also delighted to welcome Phil Reed OBE to explain how Churchill became a great people manager, and master of international relations, in an informative opening to our event.

Agenda:

Session 1: Human Resources: ‘Churchill: A people person?’

At the beginning of the second world war Winston Churchill found himself as the figurehead of the one of the largest combined workforces the UK had ever seen. Despite his well documented faults, Churchill not only won the hearts and minds of his employees, but he also became a revered national leader and international statesman in his own right.

So what lessons can HR and Finance professionals learn from Churchill? Phil Reed OBE will guide delegates through Churchill’s approach to this mammoth task.

Speaker: Phil Reed OBE, Director, The Churchill War Rooms

Session 2: Medical Risk: ’Managing international medical risk’

Employees based outside of the UK are often subject to additional risks. Employers need to understand what these additional risk are, and have plans in place to respond to any challenges should they arise.

In this presentation Reval will help delegates understand both the Global and specific health risks, and provide some pointers to reducing or mitigating such issues. Includes case studies and cost implications for uninsured employees.

Speaker: Dr Reval Sukkhu, Occupational Health Physician, International SOS

Session 3: Employment Law: ‘Duty of Care v International Health Care’

What are the international legal and compliance obligations for employers with overseas employees?

We are fortunate to have an expert in this area to guide delegates through these murky waters. Simon will help delegates understand if their company is at risk, and importantly what actions to consider if they are. A necessary session for delegates.

Speaker: Simon Isgar, Partner, Everys Legal Consultancy

Session 4: Benefits: ‘International Benefits in Practice’

To conclude the morning, Sarah will provide an overview of how employers can best meet their duty of care through various funding solutions, and will highlight some of the hurdles that delegates may face together with some example solutions.

Includes recent case studies from the Jelf portfolio.

Speaker: Sarah Dennis, International Healthcare Director, Jelf Employee Benefits
