Our next event in the South West…

With the darker days of Autumn just ahead, you could be forgiven for feeling a bit depressed at this time of year. So why not lift the gloom by joining us for another fun and informative Jelf Employment Seminar, in yet another spectacular venue?

Once again we have sought out a panel of true topic experts to update our delegates on important employment issues. Topics covered at this event will include:

  • An Employment Law review and update
  • The new Independent Assessment Service (IAS) in 2014
  • The 2014 introduction of medical intervention tax relief
  • The best practice in employee Whilstleblowing policies
  • A pensions auto-enrolment update
  • An insight into employee motivation, goals, and positive psychology

The full agenda is shown later in this post.

We also have a great venue for our delegates to enjoy. Thornbury Castle is an early example of a Tudor country house, and has played host to notables from history such as Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn, and Queen Mary Tudor amongst others. Our event will take place in the stunning main hall of the castle, surrounded by suits or armour, medieval weaponry, tapestries and an open fireplace. This unique venue, which is easily accessible from either the M4 or M5 motorways, has ample free parking for delegates.

10:10 Whistleblowing: “It’s not just about having a policy….”

How do you create an environment where employee’s legitimate concerns can be raised in a manner that does not require the use of the media or courts, and where employee’s feel like they can be listened to without ridicule or threats to their career, promotion prospects or job? Whilst acknowledging that employees and ex-employee’s may not always be correct, whistleblowing nevertheless has a place in the modern business world. A true expert on this important area, Guy will provide some practical insights for employers of all sizes.

Speaker: Guy Ellis, Director, Courageous Workplaces

10:45 Break/ Refreshments/ Networking

11:10 Employment Law: “Another year of change”

The last few months have seen major changes to employment law, and further changes lurk just over the horizon. So now is an excellent time for Matt to provide delegates with an overview as to how these changes may impact on employers. Topics covered include employment tribunal fees, unfair dismissal compensation cap, pre-termination negotiations, employee shareholder status, pre-claim conciliation, changes to holiday entitlement and amendments to flexible working.

Speaker: Matt Jenkin, Employment Partner, Harrison Clark Rickerbys

11:40 Employee Benefits: “One door closes…”

As the long running subject of Auto-Enrolment finally reaches it’s end-game, Steve will look at the progress of this initiative and what the future may hold for employers. Other topics will include the introduction of the Independent Assessment Service and tax breaks for medical interventions, both of which employers will be able to access in 2014. Employee engagement, communications, and an update on the future of Childcare Vouchers will also be included.

Speaker: Steve Herbert, Head of Benefits Strategy, Jelf Employee Benefits
