Many followers of this blog will have just finished listening to George Osborne’s budget speech.
Experience suggests that much of the important detail will only become available and fully understood in the days and week following the speech, so it would be foolish to supply too much comment on this blog until the dust has settled a little.
However, one important point was made clear: There appears to be no significant changes to the structure of pensions tax relief at this time.
There will be plenty of coverage on this story (and I will doubtless link you to such coverage in later posts), but here is one news-wire link on that very point for information:
This is good news, and puts paid to many of the scare stories being circulated by some other sectors of the industry.
Obviously, more on the budget (with regard to employee benefits) as the detail becomes known.
