State Pension Reform

Just a quick post on yesterdays, much trailed, announcement from the DWP re State Pension Reform.

I would think most readers will already be aware of the headline messages from all the media briefings of the last few days, so I will not comment further here at present, although will as time permits.

The State Pension Reform Green Paper ‘A state pension for the 21st Century’ can be accessed from the following link:

www.dwp.gov.uk/state-pension-21st-century

State pensions do play a huge role in pension planning for employees, providing a bedrock of expectation and therefore underpinning many company pension offerings. Given this, these changes are hugely important to employers in the UK. The proposals set out in the green paper may represent significant reform to the UK state pension system, and therefore the DWP are keen to hear the views of as many groups as possible in this consultation (which ends on the 24th June). Please contribute if you have a view.

My final point, before I rush out of the door to catch a train, is that we are of course lucky enough to have the Minister for Pensions (Steve Webb MP), speaking at our next event (which is before the 24th June deadline). This will give attendees at that event a chance to hear further details direct from the Government Minister involved.

Best regards

Steve
