The fun and informative Jelf Employment Seminars return with another curious collection of informative and entertaining speakers to guide our delegates through the key employment issues of the moment.

Our popular event Chair Peter Matthews will act as chief curator for this event, keeping the following well-known speakers in order:

- The learned Tim Randles will provide his usual amusing and informative insights into the complex world of Employment Law.

- Jelf’s Steve Herbert will review the Chancellor’s Budget speech and what this means for the world of Employee Benefits in 2016 and beyond.

- Jo Thresher, a Financial Education specialist, will look at the different workplace generations and ask “are we all Millennials now?”

- Adventurer, speaker and writer Charlie Walker will round off our events with an inspiring view of how to motivate both yourself and others!

We also have another unique and interesting venue for our delegates to enjoy. This time we are at the Museum of London. The museum boasts an unrivalled collection of interactive and interesting exhibits charting the story of the city from pre-history through to the modern day. All delegates will have free access to the museum after the event. Items to look out for include a model of the great fire of London, a recreated Victorian Walk, and the famous Lord Mayor’s State Coach. The venue is centrally located and just a few minutes’ walk from public transport links.

Business journals, blogs, and websites contain a wealth of information and opinions about how the attitudes of Millennials, Generation X, and Baby Boomers all differ significantly. But what does this really mean for HR in terms of benefits? With pressure to provide work life balance, engagement and wellness are these generations really in need of different attention and if so how can you help them? Jo Thresher, an expert on workplace financial education solutions, will provide the answers.

11:25 Employment Law: “The Interactive Museum Experience”

Managing sickness, especially disability, presents many challenges. However the courts have never been unsympathetic to the well-intentioned employer. In his talk Tim will review recent sickness and discrimination cases (including the Starbucks case). Tim will also look at new tools available from ACAS, gender pay gap reporting, failed disciplinary actions and other items that catch his eye.

11:55 Motivation: “Resilience and motivation”

Charlie is an adventurer. He has cycled 43,000 miles through 60 countries (in a journey lasting four and a half years), completed a 1,000 mile walk across the Gobi desert, and paddled a dugout canoe down a crocodile infested river in the Congo. These feats and others have taught him true resilience, and he now shares his motivational thoughts through presentations and writing. This is sure to be an engaging and uplifting end to our event.
