Chubb gave us immediate cover and promptly sent an Appraisal Consultant, Ms Helen Boyce to visit us. She and Mr Jones inspected our house, gardens, outbuildings and their contents. During our first year with Chubb, several items of jewellery were taken from our home, over a period of months. The matter was reported to the Police but it was impossible to prove the guilt of the person who we believe to have been responsible. He was dismissed.
On the advice of Ms Jackie Francome of Jelf, I had all the items that I had lost valued by a reputable jeweller, John Titcombe of Clifton (I possessed photographs and some receipts for the stolen jewellery). I was very surprised by their total worth.
All this documentation was sent, via Jelf Insurance Brokers, to Chubb. I did not have to wait long before I received a visit from Mr Ashleigh Lloyd, Claims Adjuster for Chubb Insurance. After a brief but searching interview, Mr Lloyd wrote out and handed me a cheque to cover the claim. I was very impressed by this service.
When the policy fell due for renewal, whilst there was an increase in premium, this was largely due to the index-linking of the sums insured and not because of the aforementioned claim.
