Jelf Insurance Brokers’ executive team complete their London to Paris bike ride raising over £16,000 for Parkinson’s UK
Eight members of the Jelf Insurance Brokers’ executive team have just swapped their pens for pedals to undertake a charity bike ride from London to Paris.
Their mission was to raise as much money as possible for Parkinson’s UK – the charity working to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s. Donations are still being received but they have already raised over £16,000.
Led by Jelf Insurance Brokers’ Chief Executive Phil Barton, and kindly supported by Lorega, the team set off last Wednesday, cycling 310 miles over four days, before arriving in Paris on Saturday. Their journey wasn’t without incident – a few wrong turns, punctures, hills in Kent nobody knew existed and arguments with roundabouts in Calais, but all arrived in Paris just about in one piece!
Commenting on their challenge, Phil Barton, Jelf Insurance Brokers’ Chief Executive, said: “We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who sponsored and supported us, including Lorega. You all gave us the motivation we needed to keep pedalling over what proved to be a very tough but inspiring four days. As a community broker, we’re delighted that we have been able to do our small bit to help a charity like Parkinson’s UK, which provides such a valuable service to so many people.”
Neill Johnstone, Managing Director of Loss Recovery Insurance provider, Lorega said: “Completing the gruelling London to Paris cycle is a fantastic achievement for Jelf’s executive team and has raised a considerable amount of money for Parkinson’s UK. As we never know when we will need a helping hand Lorega was pleased to be able to support Jelf and their chosen charity, which makes such a difference to those who suffer from this debilitating disease.”
