Christopher Jelf – Group Chairman – Aged 48 – ACII FPC
Chris established the business in 1989 after having worked in the industry in a number of positions for brokerages and providers (including Midland Bank and Royal Insurance). Chris is a qualified broker and independent financial adviser and has an active role with many of the Group’s business insurance clients and business partners.
Michael King – Deputy Chairman – BA FCII
Michael is a Chartered Insurance Broker with over 40 years experience in the insurance industry having been with Goss Group since 1967. He is a fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). He also chairs the Remuneration Committee.
Alexander Alway – Group Chief Executive – Aged 47 – FCMA
Alex is a commercial accountant with over 18 years of experience working within the retail financial services sector. Alex worked for BP as a business accountant for 4 years. He was previously with AXA Sun Life plc for 10 years in a number of roles including finance, change management, IT strategy and commercial director IFA. Alex joined Jelf Group in 2001.
John Harding – Group Finance and Operations Director – Aged 55 – ACA BSc
John is an accountant with over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry including previously holding the position of Head of Group Finance and Finance Director of Broker Sales with AXA Sun Life. He joined Jelf Group in 2004.
Phil Barton – Group Commercial Director – Aged 44 – BSc MBA
Phil is a financial services professional with over 20 years’ experience within the sector, most recently with AXA where he was the Sales Director for IFA sales and at the Prudential dealing with large corporate accounts. Phil joined Jelf Group in 2003 with the specific brief to develop both a client-focused strategy and lead the Group’s marketing activities. He also chairs the Solvency Committee.
David Walker - Non-Executive Director – Aged 54 - BA MA
David Walker has more than 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry, previously working for JP Morgan, Bankers Trust Company and Credit Suisse First Boston in various senior roles. Before retiring in 2003, David was Managing Director and Head of Strategic Planning at CSFB. David also chairs the Group's Audit Committee and is a member of the Remuneration Committee. He has been with the Group from 1st January 2004.
Alex Rowe M A (Hons) - Non-Executive Director - Aged 47 - MA
Alex Rowe has more than 20 years experience in commerce, with the last 15 years acting in the capacity of Joint Managing Director of CLS Group, a major business in the South West region, before its sale to a multi-national competitor in 2006.Alex has assumed a position on the Group’s Audit, Remuneration and Solvency Committees. He brings with him a wealth of experience and will be an important member of the team driving the Group’s growth. He joined the company on 16th October 2006.
Senior Management
Peter Elliott – Group Corporate Director – Aged 48
Peter has 20 years’ experience in the healthcare sector previously working for BUPA, CIGNA and Hogg Robinson in a number of senior roles. Peter established the Jelf healthcare intermediary business as a start up in 1997.
Glenn has worked in the sector for over 20 years during which he has specialised in advising on corporate employee benefits. Glenn joined Jelf in 1992.
Gary has worked in the sector for over 20 years and, prior to joining Jelf Group in 1993, worked for Commercial Union which later became Norwich Union. Gary became Managing Director in 2003 for Jelf Insurance and in 2005 promoted to Executive Director.
Chris Clarke – Development Director, Insurance – Aged 50
Chris was previously with NFU Mutual and one other large regional broker and has worked in the sector for over 29 years. Chris joined Jelf Group in 1989 to establish and develop what has since become the core commercial insurance business.
Gina started her career in commercial insurance at Royal Insurance based in Cardiff. During that time she undertook a number of sales development roles, including becoming one the of UK’s first female general insurance inspectors. In 1997 Gina began working in affiliation with Julian Hodge Bank as a self-employed insurance broker. After two years in this capacity she was appointed to the role of director, responsible for the management of the commercial division and a team of six account executives.
Michael Heard – Managing Director, Goss & Co (Financial Services) Ltd - FCII Dip PFS
Michael is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner. He joined Goss Group in 1981 after 12 years with Sun Alliance and joined the main board of Goss in 1986. He is a fellow of the CII.
Jeremy Wilson – Managing Director, Goss & Co (Insurance Brokers) Ltd – MBA ACII
Jeremy has worked for nearly 30 years in the insurance industry and joined Goss Group in 1987, becoming managing director of the Insurance Division in 1999. He is an associate of the CII and a Chartered Insurance Broker.
