With the school year over many teenagers will be looking to start their careers via apprentice schemes. However, it is evident that a lot of businesses are failing to safeguard their apprentices, work experience students and full-time youngsters as the HSE is reporting far too many cases where people under the age of 20 are suffering life-changing injuries. It's not all fun in the sun 12 August 2013

The tourism and leisure sector is often associated with fun and relaxation, but from a business perspective it is not without risk. In the last 5 years alone, Jelf has seen its tourism and leisure sector claims increase in number by a whopping 194%, with the total cash figure being paid out, by an even more staggering 230%. Are you at risk of a cyber-attack? 27 March 2013

As cyber reliance on technology increases so do the associated risks. In the last 12 months at least two banks were unable to allow customers to access their accounts either to transfer or withdraw money. A phone company was unable to provide customers with access to their emails and hundreds of customers were left stranded at an airport because of computer failures. SMEs are feeling optimistic about 2013 19 February 2013

Small businesses are feeling confident about trading conditions according to Aviva’s bi-annual SME survey ‘Pulse’, with twice as many SMEs (65%) expecting average to strong sales in the first half of 2013, compared to just 32% in the same period last year. Read more...


                         

Flood risks 18 January 2013

During the winter season we expect rain, and living in this grand country of ours we expect lots and lots of rain don’t we? It’s a running joke usually, whilst Europe traditionally basks in glorious sunshine, the UK is constantly wet! This year has taken the biscuit though hasn’t it?
