A Government response to the consultation on the earnings thresholds for Auto-Enrolment was issued this week.
These thresholds are very important, as they will partially dicate which employees (or workers as we will all need to think of them for Auto-Enrolment purposes) fall into which categories, and therefore what actions the employer needs to take with regard to meeting their duties.
They will also allow employers to plan with more certainty for the ‘real’ contribution costs of auto-enrolment.
The proposed thresholds are:
- £8,105 will be the automatic enrolment earnings trigger
- £5,564 will be the lower limit of the qualifying earnings band
- £42,475 will be the upper limit of the qualifying earnings band
These will be placed before Parliament for final approval.
I will update you as soon as we hear further.
Best regards
Steve
