As I promised last week, a little more on that Salary Sacrifice story. For those not up to speed with this one, I refer you to my original post on this:
https://www.jelfgroup.com/blog/2011/03/the-budget-3-tax-merger-and-salary-sacrifice/
It appears that I am far from alone with my belief that the merger of Income Tax and National Insurance may be a tall order. I refer you to the following article in this months Corporate Adviser magazine:
https://www.moneymarketing.co.uk/channels/corporate-adviser/pensions/the-end-is-ni/1030845.article
Whilst I do accept that most people (including myself) quoted in this article do not wish to see the merger for a number of reasons, it does seem strangely comforting that so many have come out against this idea so far (and more to follow once the consultation is in full swing as well for sure) in such strong terms. In particular, Lord Lawson (who as far as I know has no agenda here) has said it’s too complicated, and that is quite compelling in itself.
So, the end may not be NI just yet?
Best regards
Steve
