The UK construction industry is amongst the safest in the world as a result of strict health and safety laws. The ‘long-term trend has seen the rate of fatalities more than halve over the last 20 years’.*

However, according to the Health and Safety Executive, each year in the construction sector alone, ‘4% of workers suffer from an illness they believe to be work-related’ and ‘3% of people suffer from a work-related injury’. That’s 79,000 people in the UK, with the majority being musculoskeletal disorders.

Increasingly companies need to look to improve Health and Safety, learning from the past and preventing incidents that cost lives and injuries in the future. Sometimes accidents cannot be prevented, so it is important your company is covered for every eventuality, especially if you have invested in new equipment, ventured into new markets or going through a period of growth.
