Ministry of Justice Changes postponed 7 January 2013

Changes to civil procedure rules in respect of Employers Liability and Public Liability claims

Planned changes to the Civil Procedure Rules in respect of Employers and Public Liability claims are scheduled to come into force in April 2013. Their aim is to reduce the overall costs associated with these types of claims and stream line the process. Read more 



Fee for Intervention (FFI)

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), has for some time imposed charges for intervention on a number of clearly defined manufacturing sectors where Health & Safety (H&S) hazards are significant.  With the introduction of the Fees For Intervention (FFI) regime on 1st October 2012, all businesses and enterprises throughout the UK that fall under the jurisdiction of the HSE will be liable to face financial charges for the HSE's time in investigating what they consider to be material breaches of H&S law.  Read more

HSE, 18th July 2012

Whilst the UK enjoys one of the lowest levels of workplace fatal injuries in Europe no business can afford to be complacent, weather you’re an SME or a PLC the duty of care you owe your employees and the public is the same. The North West had we are sorry to say the worst record of deaths of any other UK region last year according to the HSE, figures for the year to March showed that 25 people died as a result of an accident at work in the region, London suffered the fewest fatalities. Construction and agriculture accounted for 49 and 33 fatal injuries respectively. Read more

Jelf Manson selects 'Charity of the Year, 7th March 2012
