As our Account Handler you will work as part of a team, and you will be responsible for providing support and advice to our commercial clients with regards to their insurance. You will be involved in new business, renewals and mid term alterations, along with identifying upselling and cross selling opportunities. You will liaise with insurers and internal departments to ensure the client receives the best service possible.

Your main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing clients with day-to-day technical and administrative support with regards their products and services with Jelf
  • To understand the clients insurance needs and identify the correct insurer market
  • Maintain accurate data and documentation in a compliant manner and to the required timescales
  • Work on own initiative and to prioritise client's enquiries effectively, advising colleagues and Team Leader of workload and potential delays in processing
  • Ensuring that all business activity is logged and recorded on core systems accurately and monitored

We are looking for someone who has good technical knowledge, with an eye for detail and the ability to work towards providing our clients with advice on their insurance requirements. You will be working with premiums associated with large cases and will be required to work with minimum supervision.

This role requires somebody with strong account handling insurance experience who is methodical and able to prioritise his or her workload. You should have excellent interpersonal skills and maintain a professional attitude at all times.

The ideal candidate will show the following skills throughout the recruitment process:

  • Cert CII or Dip CII qualified or be progressing towards, or alternatively be committed to work towards these qualifications.
  • Experience from either a commercial broking or underwriting background with good working knowledge of commercial combined policies paying over £20,000 premium
  • Build a rapport with clients, colleagues and providers
  • Prioritise workloads and assisting colleagues where necessary
  • Taking ownership of an enquiry whilst demonstrating excellent knowledge
  • Maintain the company culture by ensuring a professional and appropriate manner at all times
  • Use initiative to resolve queries outside own area of expertise
  • Experience of reviewing client contracts, or would be willing to embrace this given the right training
  • A good working knowledge of all major classes of insurance, including liability and professional indemnity
