As per my previous post, I have been spending a lot of time working my way through the rules and regulations around The Pensions Bill (which should now, more properly, be referred to as the ‘The Pensions Act 2011′ since it has became law).
Despite this, I have to report that The Pensions Act 2011 does not actually solve many of the detailed questions that employers, the pensions industry, and payroll providers needed answered to allow final planning to proceed.
It has become evident that much of the important detail of auto-enrolment will still not be available until the DWP publish the result of a consultation in December, and will not be finalised until ‘early 2012′.
So, all parties are still blundering around in the fog trying to find a decent path to follow. Nevertheless, some detail does occasionaly become clear through the mist, and I will be reporting on such areas on the blog over the coming weeks.
Notwithstanding the continued uncertainty, I will continue to put together some detailed technical guidance notes on all aspects of Auto-enrolment, based on my best guess of where we are now.
Will keep you posted.
Best regards
Steve
