The hugely successful Jelf Employment Seminars return to London for our opening event of 2015. Now in their 5th consecutive year, these fun and informative events have become an essential part of the landscape for many HR and Finance professionals.
And once again there will be several distinct species of expert speaker on display:
– Paul McGee (The SUMO Guy): A hugely popular and entertaining motivational speaker – who will be focusing on the key topic of employee engagement at this event.
– Tim Randles: Our regular Employment Law speaker is always a much sought after (and fun) addition to the agenda.
– Steve Herbert: Will provide his usual topical, pragmatic and original views on the many important changes to the world of Employee Benefits in 2015 and beyond.
We also have a spectacular backdrop to our event in the form of the world famous Natural History Museum. The museum charts the history of life on earth, and our delegates will be provided with free access to a diverse range of galleries including Volcanoes, Mammals, Creepy Crawlies and (of course) the opportunity to view the Dinosaurs gallery and come face to face with a terrifying animated T-Rex! The museum is centrally located and easy to access via public transport.

09:45 Employee Benefits: “Evolution”
The world of employee benefits has been evolving over the last decade, and this looks set to continue in 2015 regardless of the result of the looming General Election. Steve will look at the latest detail on the landmark Freedom of Pensions legislation, and provide updates on other topical issues including updates on the new Fit for Work service, state childcare support, Income Protection and (of course) Pensions Auto-Enrolment. A pragmatic and useful session for all delegates.
Speaker: Steve Herbert, Head of Benefits Strategy, Jelf Employee Benefits
10:15 Employment Law: “An Unnatural History of Employment Law”
If like Tim, your understanding of natural history and biology is limited to knowing that when you breathe, you inspire, and when you do not breathe, you expire, then this is probably the update for you. In his first seminar of 2015 Tim will review the latest developments over holiday pay, including the Deduction from Wages (Limitation) Regulations 2014, provide an overview of the Shared Parental Leave Regulations, as well as managing obesity and disability following the ruling from the European Court and any interesting cases which have caught his eye since we last met.
Speaker: Tim Randles, Associate Director, Penningtons Manches LLP
10:45 Delegate Voting
10:50 Break/ Refreshments/ Networking
11:15 Employment Engagement: “How to get the very best from yourself and your team”
In challenging, changing times, how can we make sure that people don’t merely survive but thrive in the workplace? Perhaps leaders should recognise the need to look at themselves and ask the challenging question ‘How can I get the best out of others if I’m not getting the best out of myself?’ This entertaining and thought-provoking session will also explore what is really required to motivate people, and uncover the single biggest myth when it comes to the issue of getting the best from others. Be prepared to laugh as well as learn as Paul McGee brings his ‘no-bull, tell it as it is’ approach to getting the best from ourselves and others.
Speaker: Paul McGee, The SUMO Guy
12:15 Closing comments/ Prize draw/ Optional access to museum galleries
